Have I been dosing wrong?

I actually wouldn’t use a pen for more than 25iu of anything.
Even if you filled the cartridge up with 3ml, at 25iu thst is only 12 shots. Any less than that and I wouldn’t go through the hassle filling cartridges.
So I would just say use a regular 100iu insulin syringe

I hear that, but then again, 12 shots at that rate is 3 months worth, assuming weekly doses?

20mg vial x10= 200mcg per unit.
2mL of bac water used so 100mcg per unit
A draw of 10units would get 1 mg.

Same math just another way of looking at it to understand it.

@commander When going to higher does, like 10mg, what is the recommended way to accomplish this with a pen that only dials to 60? I assume just dial 60 and inject, and while needle is still in dial 40 and push that?

You added 2 ml of bac water to a 20mg vial. So your concentration is 20mg/2ml = 10mg/ml.

You then transferred it to a pen.

Pen (and insulin syringe) units/clicks are 0.01 ml - 1/100th of a ml.

10mg/ml = 10 mg / (1ml * (100 units/ml)) = 10mg/100 units = 0.1 mg/unit

10 units at that concentration would be 10 units *0.1mg/unit = 1 mg

(I personally find it easier to think of the concentration as 0.1 mg/unit = 1 mg/ 10 units).

If you are trying to dose 1mg you would need to go to 10iu on the pen. 10 clicks if you pen increments 1 iu at a time

That's what I'm realizing now, so yeah I've been dosing at 1/10 of what I thought I was. No wonder I've had no side effects LOL.
