They do not properly vent to evacuate all the air. You can compensate for this by using a longer processing time.
My husband grows mushrooms. You have to sterilize the growing medium. What takes one hour in my stovetop pressure canner takes three hours in our instapot ultra.

You can use a pressure cooker like Mirro Matic, heat at 250°F 15psi (turn knob to 3 on the stove) for 20mins. It acts like a very inexpensive autoclave. Best to use a sterilization pouch like Dynarex for the steam sterilizing indicators.

I still throw them in a high power UV for a few minutes before they go to use. Cant hurt but i wouldnt rely on it.
