I love my Novopen 4s. They are a lot of hassle. Not for someone that wants to buy a good pen like the v4 and just have it work. There is ZERO advantage of using a Novopen over a good quality (not that crap you buy on eBay add Ali) v4 or Xulin pen. But there are several disadvantages. So why to I continue to mess around with the Novopen, absolutely no good reason other than I want to and it gives me a break from my day job.
I have spent HUNDREDS of dollars and an insane amount of time working on my adapter. When designing it, when the test adapter breaks off in the pen, the pen is trashed. I had to throw away over 20 Novo 4 pens while working on my adapter. I like Max’s adapter, but there were a couple things that bothered me. The main one was the cap was loose on it! So I started from scratch and here it is… cap is snug, works on all the 3ml carts that I could get my hands on.

You actually did it. I tried like hell and destroyed 4 pens. Great job please share the file. The Novo pens are so nice but I gave up I still have one unbroken one to use.

Ya, I killed a lit of pens making this.. I will email you the file. I tried printing it in ABS, not recommended.. This is Bambu PETG. I also tried Sunlu PETG, no good. I am going to try Bambu PLA-CF next.
Interesting part, I tried to learn Fusion and TimkerCad so I could make this. Impossible, way to confusing! So first I designed my own CAD software so I could design this adapter…

@Commander it’s amazing work my friend. I get why you put in all that work the pens are so nice. I also find bamboo filament to be superior to sunlu

Thank you. This stupid adapter cost me a fortune. It is actually the reason I bought the dam 3d printer to begin with...
I downloaded Max's adapter and tried printing it and couldn't even do that. Jeff helped me out, he even had to send me a video on how to set the file up to print, when it comes to using programs I am a Techno Peasant. The problem is I am just too picky. I couldn't handle the top spinning freely on Max's adapter. Now my caps are snug - and it probably only cost me 5k for it!!
Now I have to buy the Resin printer to try and resin print a few of these so they come out nicer (Hopefully Jeff has a resin printer so he can tell me how to use it)...

@commander lol, I have been working on computers since 1982 (yikes!) and still feel like a techno peasant today. I was talking to a friend over the weekend and he was offering to help me with all sorts of AI stuff, or 3d printing stuff, or other stuff. HE knows I plan to retire soon and was suggesting all sorts of stuff I have little interest in. I am task-focused. I will learn to build a whole damned car if I want a custom car, but I don’t want to learn how to service transmissions in case I want to repair a transmission someday.

And for the millionth time, no, I don’t want to do woodworking!

So believe it or not between the Corps and my current career I worked in IT for the DOD. I stopped that about 2012. But I could never use dam programs, I. can just build the servers, fix the computers, some object oriented data base stuff, Sipernet, Nipernet, etc...
But like you I am task orientated. I can't code anymore, but thank god for code generators. This NP adapter was my task, so First it was buy the dam 3d printer (I kind of went a little bit overboard on that), then it was trying to learn the software out there - well that was impossible. So that is why I had to design my own CAD software, basically I combined all the best features of the other programs. Then because I don't have artistic skills, I had to design AI into my CAD software to build me the things I want... All this for this stupid little adapter. But my cap is nice and snug now!!
Just in time, I have a big project that I have to consintrate on for my Firm, so have to take a little break from playing with this for a while. I will probably put this on Makerworld when I figure out how to do that.
Still have to test printing it more with the Engineering plate and different materials so I can give people the best settings to use. I am going to wait a few weeks to buy the resin printer because that has to go in the garage and the garage has to be cleaned up first...

So I never do things like this for money. But if Jeff wants this for his store, he is welcome to it. He is way better at this stuff than I am, he would end up making it better than I could. If he wants it and sells it, then it doesn't go on Makerworld, it will be his at that point not mine. I would love it if he sold Novo 4s!!

How would injection molding hold up for this type of part, if that would even work.

@Commander that would be great. The current adaptor is garbage it breaks after several uses and destroys the pen. My only other issue with Novo pens is sometimes the clutch slips.

So I paid Especially close attention to the clutch slipping. Basically how that works is how far is the end of the cart from the bottom of the adapter, I made sure that it wouldn't slip. That was another one of my pet pevs...

@Commander this is so great because the pens are so nice with the large numbers on the dial, the size and the mechanism when it works

Anything that says Novo or Lily is something we can't put in the store.

It'd be about 2 months before this whole website disappears.

@commander I told you this would be a rabbit hole when you bought that printer 😂. Shove that bad boy on maker world! I'll go click the boost button immediately!
