Just wondering if anyone here has flow carrying their research vials and pens? I have to travel soon and want to make sure if that three letter agency ever gives issues. My travel pack is "approved" to go thru security, but I don't exactly have much faith in them. I plan on packing needles and pen tips in my checked bags.

    Thanks

I flew in March. No issues at all. I bought an insulated carrier on Amazon that came with ice packs and put my pens and a few needle tips in the case. I put that case in my carryon. I packed the rest of the needle tips in my suitcase and a few insulin needles, in case my pen failed. No trouble at all.

One thing that I was told, your ice packs need to be frozen, not semi thawed. We went on a cruise and our cabin fridge wouldn't freeze the icepacks to go home. So, I took them down to Medical and asked them to freeze them. I picked them up the morning that we were flying home. Hotels will do the same thing for you. I had NO issues, not even a sideways look.

@jackie Did you let TSA know that? It's something that i saw saying you should when going thru security. Not that I want to. I'm also staying in a house so freezer won't be an issue but that's good advice going forward.

When I put my back up up and removed my ipad, I said "I have refrigerated medicine" and they told me to leave it in my backpack when I flew out. When we flew home, they had me take it out of the backpack and put it in the bin with my ipad. They didn't ask what was in it or even look at it

Yeah have read from many others on other forums too that TSA doesn't give a fk about your meds in the cabin bag. Maybe they are researching them too and understand. LOL
