22g can “plug” (cut a hole) the top of a pen vial. I’ve had it happen with a 23 as well. I’d use the larger to draw and switch to a smaller gauge, like 27, to fill the pen vial. Cheaper to buy additional luer tips than buy new syringes.

@MyB. That what I was thinking too - I'm having a hard time finding just the 27 gauge screw on type luer tips - do you know where I could find those?

I switch to 27 when I filter into vials just to keep the puncture smaller. Makes it a bit harder to pull out air for vacuum but it works fine.

@Eleanor that's exactly what I was thinking. The smaller the better to keep contaminants, etc. out

@kristal I'm going to start using my breather needles. they are very small 30g x 1/2 inch and they are luer lock. They fit my 3 and 5ml syringes.

@kristal FYI, I just reconstituted some Cartalax using breather and it's too small. Stick with a bit bigger needle. Filter had a hard time with it and I was real careful but not worth the effort or chance of breaking it.

@Eleanor thank you - 27 might be a good size.

These are what I use for reconstitution and breather needles, a 25Ga-1 1/2in needle and a 30Ga-5/16in.

I like the 31 ga 1-1/2” version for loading pens. It lets me get every drop out of the vial and is a tiny puncture in the cart.

Yes, it is a very slow draw so you have to be patient.

Please set a funny and sarcastic signature line. It brings me joy. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

                      Hi,
just used a 3ml syringe for first time when drawing bac water/reconstituting and when i inserted into the vial the plunger dropped expelling the bac into the vial at a way faster rate than i usually reconstitute.
A small amount of bubble appeared but dispersed almost immediately.
Sorry for the stupid question but is that why breathers are used, to reduce vacuum pressure? and would the rapid rate/bubbles affect the quality of my research results?

@matthew the breather is for filling pen vials.
People who claim to be experts will tell you introduce bac slowly and run it down the side of the vial. Peptides aren’t as fragile as some people say. Your research material is most likely fine.

Peptides are only as good as your Bac Water

@matthew Surprised me the first time too; has quite a pull to it. Even though some people don't mind the fast fill, I hold that plunger somewhat in place and slow it down. If you didn't insert a breather needle to the side of where you're placing your 3ml syringe needle, give that a try; it won't stop the plunger from dispensing but makes it easier.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the community, and I just wanted to say thanks for all the great information that's shared here.
I'm making the switch from syringes to pens and took advantage of the July 4th sale, thanks, Randy!
Now I'm trying to figure out the cartridge filling process and could use a little guidance. For those using a 3 mL syringe, what size and length breather needles do you recommend? Also, what size and length reconstitution needles work best?
One other question: do most people reuse cartridge vials, or are they generally considered one-and-done? I'm assuming they're single-use, but I'd appreciate hearing what the standard practice is.
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and experience!

@coyote_hippie Jeff and Randy have videos on filing pen vials and filtering. You can find links to some of his YouTube videos by going to the community tab and selecting tutorials. https://peptidecritic.com/tutorials They can also be found directly on his YouTube channel.
I pull BW and recon with a 23g or 25g. Draw and fill the pen vial usually with a 27g. I use a 31g for venting because it’s what I have and I want to burn them up because they’re a 💩 batch that’s hard to draw with. You can use whatever but just remember if you use a smaller gauge you’ll need to push slower, or risk blowing the plunger out the bottom accidentally if your not paying attention, and the smaller vent needle can also get a Venturi effect and suck the peptide out as you’re injecting it. Buying your syringes and luer lock tips separately makes things more flexible, and also gets around some states that have restrictions.

Peptides are only as good as your Bac Water
