Has anyone researched and found a possible solution for gum health, specifically receding gums?

Just someone with a fridge full of research and a browser history that would concern my doctor.

Aggressive oral hygiene is a contributing factor to recession.

I don't know that there's a peptide that will do what you want but I did have the same problem. First, use a soft tooth brush, preferably electric. Dentists do offer a coating for exposed roots and I got that. It looks better but might still be sensitive to hot/cold. Also, after you've gotten roots coated, that area will not respond to whiteners.

@Eleanor good to know about the coating - I'll have to ask my dentist about that. They told me to put sensodyne on the gumline before bed to help with the hot/cold.

Concerning the peptides, I know TA-1 is associated with gum healing (after teeth implantation). Also, in general, the "healing" blends like KLOW.

@vpeptides Hmm.. I might have to research the TA-1 to see if it makes any improvement without implants

I can't tell you how many times I've heard that Sensodyne crap! I hate the stuff, it's expensive and I just tossed that.

Regardless of what your dentist tells you about whitening, when you read the product box, it specifically says the whitener will not work on artificial teeth or those artificially coated. Of course, my dentist sold me the box right after he coated my roots.

Also, there are studies of using rapamycin for gum disease. I don't know exactly why it works, rapamycin inhibits MTORC1, thus activating AMPK as a result. Peptides, activating AMPK, would be MOTS-C and Humanin.

I have recession and need to get a gum graft for it. I am not aware of anything that will heal or restore recession. I have researched Glow/Klow for several months, along with many other peptides, and there has been no improvement to my gums with respect to the recession.

@brandenscheidecker I've been using one a couple times a week for a year now, and it's not making any improvements for me. I'm not great at flossing regularly maybe twice a week if I remember. I know a lot of this could have been prevented if I was taught proper dental hygiene at a young age. I also had a calcium issue that caused the plaque to build up faster than most, causing me to need "deep" cleanings twice a year, now I'm on perio maintenance visits 4 times a year. I had a parathyroid removed and that fixed my calcium issue but not the plaque.

Me as well until a couple of years ago when I started working so much. Here's something else though. Finally, a couple of different dentists have told me that because I'm of Irish and Scot ancestry, keeping teeth in good shape is extra, EXTRA difficult. If this matches with your situation, know that it is genetics, it cannot be overcome, but it can be resisted and improved somewhat. I have one friend who wants to have all her teeth pulled and all implants installed. I'm beginning to understand why.

Well that's about 20% of my DNA. I've considered implants as well but I don't have that kind of money.

@eleanor a full set of implants would be terribly expensive and extremely disruptive for a long time. Just a gum graft is 6+ weeks recovery and costs a couple grand. Implants start around $4k per tooth.

@ResearchCat My friend just returned from Turkey where he had around 20 teeth implanted in a clinic in Istanbul. It was less than 10K. It looks good. The service he said was top notch. He had to travel 2 times there though.

doing implants to take care of gum recession is ridiculous. you do not remove a tooth because of recession unless it is severe like 9+mm of gum recession.
You are actually talking about periodontal disease not gum recession? I've been in dentistry since 1986. I've worked for some great dentists and some real shady ones.
the problem with getting dental work done out of country is most dentists dont want to touch that work (like adjustments or even answer questions about the out of country work)
