This is a new one. Apparently to thwart chargebacks Atomik and Solution are asking new accounts to verify with address and driver's license.

Is this for real? Are they going to comply with data protection and data breach disclosure laws? How will they rectify and reimburse if that sensitive data is breached?

Why not just make new customers pay through non chargeback methods, CashApp, crypto, Venmo etc first and once there's trust enable CC payments.

@pep_researcher Another vendor asked for my DL too and I wouldn't do it. They don't need that info and kind of wonder if they've been hacked?

@Eleanor Exactly. There was some malware related CC data breach at a popular vendor site a few months ago and people's credit cards got breached. I escaped that breach because I use one time use CC numbers that can't be reused.

You can replace a hacked CC but how will you replace people's identity?

Financial instruments and healthcare providers that asks such IDs online, comply with data protection and HIPAA laws. Can Atomik and Solution show that compliance?

@pep_researcher Hippa laws are for human use, not somthing that applies here, also for crypto KYC is required or it's money landuring, KYC requires your ID.

@Randy Right. I know ACH or crypto payment plugins ask KYC info. But these vendors are asking those because some customers did chargebacks after order fulfillment.
