Froze reta and cag by accident
-
I did something very stupid. I accidentally froze my reconstituted peptide. Its retatrutide and Cag in 2 separate vials. Can I still use the peptidenifbi thaw slowly in fridge? And are they completely destroyed? How much potency is lost. These were not cheap and I both cant afford to toss them nor will I have access to get new ones as I'm out of town for 3 weeks.

Had AI (I know I, I know) pull from what studies are out there on peptides studies that involved freezing and usability and give a best guess for you. Basicly, if it looks clear, not cloudy or particles, some potentcy is lost, but still usable.
Risk level: Higher. As a lipidated peptide similar to tirzepatide/semaglutide, it is sensitive to freeze-thaw. Ice crystal formation can disrupt micellar structures, leading to aggregation that does not fully redisperse on thawing. Manufacturers of related approved GLP-1 products explicitly state "do not freeze; discard if frozen."
Peptideclock
Supporting data: General peptide literature and analogous compounds show single-cycle damage (e.g., 10–20%+ potential loss in some assays), though exact reta data is limited (mostly community/third-party reports like Janoshik paraphrases showing higher degradation vs. refrigerated). Multiple cycles are clearly worse.Usability: If it was a brief, single freeze with no visible changes (clear, no cloudiness/particulates), it might retain substantial activity—but potency is likely reduced and unverifiable without testing. Visible issues = discard.
Cagrilintide (Amylin Analog)
Risk level: Moderate. Shorter/more stable peptide structure than reta in some contexts, but still susceptible to ice-induced aggregation, oxidation, or conformational changes in aqueous solution. Less specific manufacturer data (investigational), but follows general reconstituted peptide guidelines. -

Stick it in your rat and let's find out!

I was buying compounded tirz from a local compound pharmacy and it was always frozen when I picked it up. I thought that was strange because everything I have read says not to freeze. I used it and it was fine, take that for what it’s worth. I did question the pharmacy and they couldn’t give me any real answers.

@kevinfay someone on another forum(could have been reddit, I don't recall for sure) did a test with a couple of vials from compound ph, froze it. Months later, thawed and used it, found that it was just as effective. There were a few others that were going to do the same and report their results, but I haven't followed up on it. Now I need to go find those reports

"Once prepared, please aliquot and store the solution to prevent product inactivation from repeated freeze-thaw cycles.Storage method and period of stock solution: -80°C, 6 months; -20°C, 1 month (sealed storage, away from moisture and light, under nitrogen). When stored at -80°C, please use it within 6 months. When stored at -20°C, please use it within 1 month."
Yes, you've degraded it slightly. No, its not complete bunk off 1 freeze thaw cycle.

I can only share past experience. 10 years ago I use to recon facial toxins, prefill syringes, and freeze. They were still effective but the effects were shortened by about 10 days, so there was some degradation.
When proteins freeze the cells can burst. If toxins with the molecule weight of 150k can survive a freeze thaw cycle your peptides that are under 2k molecular weight have a much better survival rate, IMO.
I’d probably go ahead and use the peptides as long as there’s no clumping or cloudiness. -

They joined just to ask the question then left. Not even an F-ing "thanks for the help". People suck...
@Newenough Nahh I prefer the rudeness. If they post thank you or sorry, I have to click the post in curiosity if someone has posted some 'meaningful' reply just to see there isn't. I would leave the selfishness and arrogance of the ignorants alone. lol

@pep_researcher yeppers. That's why I said they can take it for what it's worth.
