Using Multiple Cartridges In One Pen

So I am getting my first pen in the mail coming this Saturday. I know pens are relatively cheap and I do plan on ordering more, but in the meantime, is it ok to fill multiple cartridges and then just swap them out in one pen? I know it's obviously not ideal but would there be an issues or things to look out for doing that?

@e_kantor2 I do it when I travel I just bring one or two pens and multiple vials it’s not that big a deal.

If it’s a V2 and up style, it’s very simple, push the plunger all the way back, swap the cartridge, keep actuating until you feel slight back pressure on the plunger, and dial it back to zero and you’re good to go. There is no “calibration” needed. Not even sure what is meant by that.
The auto pens are a bit more tedious because you don’t manually activate the plunger, but they can still get dialed back.

@Snake-Pepskin forgive me, what do you mean when you say actuate? Like just press the button down?

Yes, Dial in a dose and push the plunger down. Keep doing it until you feel it touching the cartridge plug. Do this without a needle. Once it’s in contact with the cartridge plug, put a needle on, dial in 1 iu and make sure it’s primed(fluid dripping from the needle) It doesn’t, repeat. Once it’s primed, dial in your dose and pin away.

I used up to 8 cartridges with two V2 pens. Yes I swapped them all the time. I even have pushed 4 related stack cartridges to one pin. It is not recommended for many reason. I have not had any issues. I now in then do 2 cartridges per 1 pin. I finished most my of my stacks/cycles. I am only left with my weekly Reta and two every other day cartridges.

It still works by making a good guess at how much to dial + 20%. Press the button and the dial and plunger stop, but the dial does not go all the way to zero because no gas can escape without the needle installed. Then just back off the dial. Only a little pressure is left on the vial. Insert a needle and only a little gas blurts out.
You can see the status of the bubble by holding the pen upside down, above your head, while a light is shining up from below. You are looking up into the needle end of the cartridge. This way, the gas bubble reflects the bubble size quite obviously and you can dial and purge without losing much fluid at all.
