Orexin stabilizes feeding behavior by acting as a crucial bridge between the brain’s energy-sensing systems and its reward pathways. Rather than acting as a simple "on/off" switch for hunger, it ensures that an organism is awake, motivated, and alert enough to seek out and consume food when energy levels are low.
