Novopen 4
-
The Novopen 4 is absolutely the best pen out there. I have 2 years on some and they are perfect. Built like a brick. Just account for 8% overage in your calculation and you are always spot on.
If you want exact, you wouldn't be buying grey peptides, the variance per vial is enough to make every pen "inaccurate".
The NPMax adapters are fantastic. I don't have any clutch slipping or problems with any of my pen needles. I'm using 1.44 and 1.46 versions of it. Don't even try to make one and print FDM, it'll break and it won't work.

@Commander Iam looking for the NP Max cartridge holder files for the NovoPen 4. Just to clarify, I’m not looking for the small adapter or coupler, but rather the complete cartridge holder that allows the NovoPen 4 to accept a standard 3 mL cartridge. If you could set me in the right direction…. If you could actually share the latest update I would appreciate it and to show my application I can send you a new Novopen4 and some PenVault swag.
@guymarkparker as the creator of the NP Max, I’d suggest not trying to print one. The latest version that is even printable on FDM is 129b which has issues with clutch slipping on some carts and is a pain to print correctly. The testing team had to do a ton of work to get them to print right as the tolerances are very tight, and they still didn’t work with some needles and carts.
The current version is 146 and starting around 139 there was a full redesign to address all these out of spec carts.

@mheadroom1984 I ordered the latest and it works for a couple of cartridges and then they break. It’s a tough design because they have to be thin to fit and once they break they break the pen.

Dumb question: I have seen people modify the OEM housing to fit the vials. Does it still break even then?"

@MikeMiranda I just ordered the kit not sure how you modify the housing. They give a new insert to make it work with a 3ml cartridge and it does that well for a little bit and then my experience after 4 pens is they crack and ruin the pen.
I went crazy trying every pen so I am a bit of an expert and could have put a deposit on a flying Tesla with how much I wasted. I am just sticking with what works now. Anything in the pen shop on here is the way to go.

@Stevepep If you have a moment, it would be helpful to know which version you have, which batch it came from, and what led up to the break.
You're right that the walls are thin. In my experience, most breaks happen when the pen is very cold and sideways pressure is applied to the holder, such as when pulling the cap off at an angle. The connection point acts as a lever, amplifying the force and concentrating it on the connector.
The other situation I've seen is when people push too hard, either because the liquid is too viscous or because they're trying to push past the last dose. In both cases, the failure happens for the same reason: too much force being transferred to the connector. For what it's worth, I've seen the original version break in exactly the same way.
That said, I've never seen this type of break actually damage a pen. If you're unable to use yours afterward, it's likely that the broken ring is still lodged in the housing and simply needs to be removed.
I always do my best to help anyone who has an issue, but I need people to let me know when something happens. Getting these details also helps me determine whether there's a potential batch issue that needs investigating.

@MikeMiranda You need to Dremel out the inside of the housing to accommodate the vial, then add a threaded cap and a spacer when loading the cartridge. This is the original NovoPen modification that allows you to use Humapen-style cartridges.
You’ll still get around 8% overdosing, though, because of the screw’s throw distance. It has to travel farther to accommodate Penfill cartridges, which is what causes the discrepancy.

@mheadroom1984 I will definitely let you know. I think digging the material out is what breaks the pen. The version is that number on the cartridge I assume?

I designed one from ground up, no slippage problems. The key to printing them is the material and setting you use. I print them in PETG-CF, no issues at all, I have them on all 20 on my pens and use them everyday.
The key is the setting, especially for the treads… -
Sheesh - with the hassle & amount of work required to get these things working right - they better give you a reach around after you pin too.
Too much work & mucking around for me unfortunately.
