Do people have experience with nutritional ketosis when using fat mobilizing peptides like tesa or AOD?

I stay in a mild caloric deficit and mild ketosis with a ketone level only at 0.5 to 1.0. I eat about 1 g of protein per pound of body weight, 20 to 30 g carbs, and the rest in fat. My blood sugar stays between 50 and 80. I may hit a blood sugar of 90 once a week. My fasting insulin level is below 10. Every few days I will eat 40 or 50 g of carbs (mainly rice) just to have my pancreas make some insulin. Even then, my blood sugar barely changes. I’m not trying to lose weight really. I’m going for body recomposition. I lift 2 to 3 times a week.

I am wondering if these fat mobilizing peptides actually work better in the absence of an elevated insulin level. The limited studies on ketosis and the effects on growth hormone are conflicting.

So I wanted to know if anyone has any practical experience living a keto lifestyle and using these peptides. Am I wasting my money or am I giving myself an edge?

But you didn't clarify what's your goal? Weight loss, fat loss, lipids, hormones? You said blood sugar is steady but that's just one marker.

Chasing fat loss and keto just because online influencers are promoting it can be tricky.

FWIW long fasting and ultra low carb/keto harmed me more. My PCP was useless, only pushed standard American healthcare cocktail — statins.

I paid $$$$ to a nutritionist specializing in metabolic disorders for personalized plan.

Peptide research is outside nutritionist monitoring, but without that monitoring my research results were stalled.

@pep_researcher thanks for the reply. I said above I’m not really going for weight loss. I’m going for body recomp. I had a few months of severe illness with months of high dose prednisone. I developed steroid myopathy. Pre illness, I was 10 pound less, and 27% body fat and did tons of cardio. No lifting.
Now I’m 10 pounds heavier but 44% body fat. So I'm basically down 10 pound lean weight and up 20 pounds of fat. I’m weak as a kitten and trying to like lifting, but I don’t like it yet. Lol
I want help with body recomp. Maybe peps are silly and I just need to lift more often. I’m doing once a week on my own, once with a trainer, and maybe one more time if I can get off work at a reasonable time. I was hoping peps would speed this along. 😉

@jennn Not a direct answer to your question, but if you typically lift 2-3 a week, it would be pretty game changing if you can make it a consistent 3x a week instead of 2x and make sure its full body training so you hit upper and lower at a high frequency (number of times you address a body part per week).

If your body doesn't respond to the minor deficit, you may want to consider staying at maintenance calories for a set period of time instead and see how your body comp changes. I've found recomps for me and friends tend to work best at maintenance rather than a deficit, but since you're hitting your protein macro you would technically be fine.

I was strict keto for years, but wasn't on any peps at the time so I got nothing for ya there tbh

My husband and I have been carnivore for 3 years. We previously were keto and we were eating a lot of keto “treats” (aka processed keto crap). I didn’t think that I needed to lose weight, but I went from 135 to 118 and my body fat dropped to between 16-17%. I am a fitness trainer and i have always lifted. When we started, it was to help jump start my husband’s weight loss and we planned to do it for 90 days. We both felt incredible and so many metabolic markers for both of us improved. He was insulin resistant. I had a rare form of breast cancer 10 years ago and my oncologist advised me to eat high protein, low carb. Well, since going carnivore ALL of my cancer markers are great and inflammation markers are practically zero.

I don’t take any fat mobilizers, but my husband takes Reta and we have recently added CJC/Ipa and he is doing great.

You want to pull as many levers as you reasonably (and safely) can. Yes to a lower carb diet. Yes on Tesa. Yes on a GLP.

I would actually advocate for a GLP over AOD for recomp/fat loss if you're looking for something to stack with Tesa. If you already have AOD that's fine obviously use it, remember its 4-6 weeks max before massive desensitization occurs.

If you're new to the GLP game I'd try Tirz first before jumping to Reta. As always, start at the very low dosage. You may end up only needing that.

Remember hormones are the foundation and paramount to keeping fat off long term. Make sure to get a panel ran and that the big ones are at least in a mid range level.

I was strict keto for years it does work but you will see some out of wack blood markers personally I would just go low carb and use Reta. Reta controls blood sugar similar to being on a keto diet. Just my opinion.
