@MyB Thats unfortunate. If they don't take returns clave them in a pressure cooker.

I should mention I spent a small fortune figuring out who actually claves these and there's a few companies or resellers that produce the "sterile bags" that wont change color when steam is applied. Im not sure how much money that saves them but it cant be much.

Just a friendly reminder that some things on Amazon are unsafe. Got a batch of 3ml pen vials to review this week and they have not been processed. Which means the are not sterile.

@gym.rat in the corners of the package is color change squares. One side is the steam and the other is gas. They have writing that states what the color is prior to processing and post processing.

@Randy I know this sounds naive, new to all of this and to pen needle injectors, but we have a pretty nice Tuttnauer clave in our clinic. Can I recycle old cartridges by carefully washing them and throwing them in there? Will it affect the rubber plungers and plugs?

Another Nub question, but the sterilization the package is confirming is the outside of the vial? So would the inside already be sterile? And if so would using an alcohol wipe on the outside take care of the sterilization of the outside issue?

@jacobferguson the bottle and stopper are inside the sealer package. The package is then ran through an autoclave. If processed properly the color change square turns from blue to black. The stopper/plunger does come out during processing due to pressure. When the package is completely dry the stopper is pushed back into the vial through the package. If the item has been properly sterilized in an autoclave it is sterile inside and out.
As soon as you remove the vial from the sealed package the exterior is exposed to air and becomes unsterile, so you clean to top with alcohol every time you insert a needle into the end, either for filling or for use once filled.
