Pen Needle Size
-
My wife and I currently use 33 x 4mm Pen tip needles. She is still having problems with everything she takes leaving bumps and red spots. She is 5’1” & 112lbs. She is wondering if the 4mm length may be too short. I can’t find 33 x 5mm, I found 32 x 5mm.
Wonder if anyone has experienced problems with 4mm being too short and causing the same issue. I use Hispira BAC for everything. -
The mistype on the weight gave me a little laugh, at least I hope she's not that weight

Hopefully it's not the 4mm needles causing the bumps because I just bought a couple boxes of 4mm length for my pens when I get them. I had asked a question on here what needle lengths everyone is using and it seemed like a lot of people use those. I don't think your wife will notice a difference between 32g and 33g, I have used 30g and barely feel anything. What body part does she inject? -
Definitely try a longer needle. Even though it may not seem believable, a longer needle doesn't cause any more pinch or pain than a shorter needle. I've found a longer needle avoids welts and bumps, and also, a very slow injection especially if it's a lot of volume, more than 30 units on 100.

@bangkokiscool
So longer needle. 5mm or 6mm?
1112lbs was a bad typo… she would kill me if she saw that. 112lbs -
8mm- 5/16" which is standard insulin needle length. Amazon has the one from Novo Nordisk, supposed to be ceramic coated but pricy.

I’m a diabetic so have injected via pens for years - I use BD Ultra-Fine 5mm X 31G.
You will literally not even feel them going in - no comparison whatsoever to any normal syringe.
Also I get them for free

I’ve demonstrated to friends just grabbing one and stabbing myself 10-15 times really quickly in my gut to show you don’t feel them - and you seriously don’t.

@Commander Please post your progress with both. 4mm was too short for my research subject. I'm not sure if 5mm will be much better

For me 4mm places it in the dermis (mesotherapy level) and I get a raised blob. 6mm and I don’t have that issue.

@commander I’ve been using these for the past month. Don’t feel them and doesn’t drag the skin on exit. Was $9.99 the first time I ordered them, now $12.99 (sad face)

I just ordered a box of 32g 6mm, too!
