PSA, I just heard in one of the Telegram groups I belong to that the app has been removed from the iOS App Store...sure enough it is not there.

Do you mean Telegram app itself is removed or only the group? The TG app is very much there, can see on Google playstore, so assume it will there on iPhone app store too unless this is specific to iOS.

This is wild as hell. Still there on Google Playstore though.

                  AI summary:

Telegram is not officially banned in the USA, though the app recently experienced a brief, temporary disappearance from the Apple App Store.

                  App Store Status:

Temporary Removal: The app vanished briefly from iOS devices worldwide due to content violating child safety guidelines, but it has since been restored.

Functionality: Existing installations remained active, and Android users experienced no service interruptions.

Regulatory Pressure: Global Scrutiny: The platform faces increasing legal pressure across multiple countries regarding content moderation, but no federal ban exists in the United States.

With the frequency of channels being nuked recently, my tin foil hat had me thinking.

@BoxerLover I don't think it's due to pep channels. There is some child safety reg violations.

Yes, that's what I've been reading. Still, banning download on iOS and not Android for content that is easily removed by them?

Given the shit show of global restrictions and oversight, and the massive loopholes, banning TG over child safety issues and not wiping out most major social media platforms wholesale seems a bit, idk, out of touch?

Take a look at GDPR. It would seem that its main purpose is to provide privacy to, um, convicted predators.
