I spent a year on semaglutide and did not notice this effect. I've been on Reta since March and it's very apparent. I bumped into some info yesterday about it being related to dopamine. I couldn't put together the words to explain it so here is what AI has to say. "GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide and tirzepatide modulate dopamine signaling primarily by dampening or blunting the release of dopamine in the brain's mesolimbic reward pathway. Rather than increasing overall dopamine levels, these medications reduce the reward value and salience of highly palatable foods and addictive substances, effectively lowering the intense "wanting" or craving signals driven by dopamine spikes.
This mechanism involves GLP-1 receptors located in key reward centers like the ventral tegmental area (VTA), nucleus accumbens, and lateral septum. Activation of these receptors decreases phasic dopamine release in response to rewarding stimuli, which helps stabilize blood sugar, reduce "food noise," and interrupt compulsive reward-seeking behaviors associated with obesity and addiction. "
Basically the meds (can) decrease your desire not only for food, but for everything. I'm trying out some supplements to increase production of dopamine and will see if that helps. Being single, getting skinny and attractive, summer time and now having no desire to leave the house and interact with anyone feels real lame!
