COA Verification Question: Is Lab-Side Verification the Gold Standard?
-
Hi everyone!
I've been researching peptides for a while, but recently I've started paying much closer attention to things like COAs, filtration, etc.
I'm currently building a framework for evaluating vendors, and one conclusion I've come to is that I place more confidence in COAs that can be independently verified through the laboratory website itself through the use of a QR code, verification portal, etc. rather than simply viewing a PDF hosted on the vendor's website. Obviously COAs on a vendor's website can be easily edited on Acrobat, Word, etc. and is difficult to take at face value.
My question is:
Does laboratory-side verification meaningfully increase confidence that a COA is authentic, or are there still ways that process could be manipulated?
I understand that even a legitimate COA doesn't necessarily prove the vial I receive comes from the tested batch. But, for the purpose of this discussion, I'm specifically interested in the COA verification step itself and whether it's considered a useful tool by experienced researchers.
Thanks!
