Freezing compounded liquid tirzepatide?

I used to pick up my tirzepatide from the compounding pharmacy and it was always frozen. I asked why and was only told that they had to. It never felt any different from the name brand, though it was mixed with L-caritine

I'd be worried about water expansion in the pen probably more than the tirzepatide honestly.

I would love to see Randy or Peptide Crafters do a study on this. It would make sense for the peptide not to be affected, since lyophilization involves freezing, but freezing, as opposed to freeze drying, the crystallization could theoretically affect the peptide bonds.

It would be interesting to find out.

@kevinfay I have also received compounded tirz that was reconstituted with both saline and with bac water, which might make a difference. Both pharmacies said not to freeze and not to use if it did freeze. Might be nonsense. ‍️

I have never frozen a 0.9% saline solution in lab but it could be that once the peptide is reconned, it would be subject to crenation once frozen and thawed due to osmotic pressure. Guessing...

@ResearchCat LLM tools as well as people on other pep forums (not compounded tirz Subrs) said there's definite molecule fracture that will cause loss of efficacy with freezing and thawing due to the way water behaves.

Lyophilization isn't comparable. Worthwhile to run an experiment. Compounded T Redditters claim to do it, but all claims are anecdotal like 'they FELT the same ', no one has a proof with a COA.
