Beyond the Scale: What Has Reta or Tirz Changed for You?
-
Started reta june 28th, Was 295 lbs, currently down to 255, I've stopped drinking almost entirely, I also no longer binge eat, antidepressants have been stepped down significantly in dosage, though I partially believe that this is also due to me using selank and dsip Nasal before bed. Also ADHD medications have been almost stopped entirely as well. End goal is somewhere around 180/190lbs. Currently at 6mg and I've bought bulk so I should be good for the next year when it comes to reta.
@justbw That’s awesome progress. I started Reta June 5th at 262 and I’m currently at 236, so we’re on pretty similar timelines. I’m also currently at 6mg. My wife was already on Tirz before that and switched over to Reta around the time I started.
The confidence part really resonates too. It’s interesting how the physical changes start spilling over into how you carry yourself, what you wear, and even what you’re willing to tolerate in life. Congrats on the 40 lbs!

@mary there is a common saying in podcast circles that you behave like the 5 people you spend the most time with.
So, 1) Surround yourself with people who make you better, or closer to who you want to be, and 2) Be a person who raises the quality of your friend group.
Hmmm, I seem to be spending a lot of time with peptide people lately, aka this forum. lol

@Juliano546 What does your wife think about switching Tirs to Reta? The difference in how she feels and the results. Did she replace it 1 to 1 ratio?

@mmp She’s actually preferred Reta. Less GI issues, a slight uptick in energy, and even with having to loosen up the diet this summer with the kids and traveling, she’s continued losing, which has been awesome.
She was at 7.5mg Tirz when we switched. We didn’t go 1:1. We dropped to 2mg Reta for the first week or two, watched the food noise and how she responded, then gradually moved 2 → 4 → 5 → 6mg, where she is now and feeling great.
The added glucagon activity with Reta also seems to make a difference for her. As she jokingly says now, “Everything’s betta with Reta.”

If you’re contemplating switching, I’d just take it slow initially rather than treating the doses as equivalent, especially since Tirz remains in the system for a while after the switch.

@Juliano546 Just went to Target to get a small fridge. You know for what.

Is it weird that I’m feeling kinda envious of people taking Reta? LOL. With the anti-inflammatory benefits and the possible cancer prevention, I’ve been thinking of microdosing it. However, I’m worried about it suppressing my appetite, which I don’t need.
Anyone microdose it without losing weight?

I recently asked our PCP this very question (she has been recommending tirz to her patients for more than 10 years), especially for anti-inflammatory and early type 2 diabetes control purposes for a family member.
She suggested - if no weight loss is needed - starting at a very low 0.25 mg once a week to see how it behaves. People's bodies are very different one from another, and she feels flexibility is needed.
She had a patient with a weight issue and rheumatoid arthritis that eventually settled on a 2.5 mg dose once a month. That dose relieved 90% of her RA symptoms, and pulled her life out of pain territory.
I am so thankful we found a practitioner with this kind of experience with tirz.

@ann-c I am so glad to hear this story. Unfortunately, that doctor is a rarity.

@ResearchCat especially a doctor that recommended Tirz for 10 years, while it was approved just 4 years ago. A real rebel.
-
Lmao...I caught that too.
-
Lmao, I missed that. Entirely. So, the doctor is even more rare than I thought.

it’s funny because I was listening to a podcast last week, might have been Huberman on Modern Wisdom, but they were talking about how people are using GLP-1’s not as intended, sharing them, micro-dosing, etc, and the medical industrial complex is fighting that as hard as they can.

@bobs

love this yes fridge space is a must!! -
That terrible brain flame from cytokine response from chronic Lyme, it can be tormenting. I did 1/10 of the recommended dose of terazepatide, and for the next 2 days, it just took it away. Something about the way it worked blocked the receptors to it in my brain, and it really, really helped with that. TA1 has helped a lot with adjusting the immune response upstream, so it's been night and day.

Stopped drinking, stopped gambling, help keep be on solid good food. But trt provided far more benefits

Before Reta, my eating was always a conscious decision. I had small binges that I justified as “cheat days,” which I always regretted.
On Reta, eating became effortless. It became more about nutrients than pleasure and comfort. The time I used to waste thinking about my next meal was spent focusing on what needed to be done.
Being able to dial anhedonia has been amazing. Compulsion has turned into control. The compulsive chatter has freed up a lot of space for what needs to be done. I’ve been more focused, productive, and healthier. I don’t remember ever being this aware of my health.
Reta became a gateway to more peptides, and the results snowballed into amazing outcomes. Am I the only one having a hard time convincing others that something that sounds “too good to be true” can actually be true with these compounds?

@EXTROPIAN The weight loss is awesome, but freeing up all that mental space that used to be occupied by food is something I don't think you fully understand until you experience it yourself.
The gateway comment hits home too
Reta started as weight loss for me and somehow turned into learning about metabolic health, recovery, mitochondria, cognitive peptides and everything in between. And YES to trying to explain it to other people.
You start listing everything you've personally noticed and halfway through you realize you sound like you're trying to sell them snake oil. Meanwhile you're sitting there thinking, “No seriously... this shit actually changed a lot more than my weight.”Here's to us rebels with a cause
