GLP-1 Research on behavior
-
Hi, I thought I would start a thread with links on some of the effects that GLP-1’s can have on behavior other than weight loss. Many of us have noticed anecdotally that GLP-1’s reduce desire for booze, drugs, gambling, and video games, but newer research is beginning to show it also affects sexual desire, interest in dating, (potentially) ambition, and anything related to desires and drive coming from the part of the brain affected by GLP-1’s.
If you have found anything interesting, drop a link.

Alrighty - I’ll put myself out there a bit here.
Dunno about the dating bit (I’m married and couldn’t be farked dating as well) but without getting too explicit “my rat” has found some things to ummm go off with more of a bang if you get my drift.

And it is definitely more noticeable around 12-24 hours after my rat has pinned. The rest of the things mentioned I can’t say I’ve noticed.
Add that one to your medical journals ya cunts.
My rat is also diabetic and I have found some pretty interesting things to do with insulin/Metformin & sugar/glucose levels with respect to Reta which I haven’t seen much published about as well but I’ll leave that for another thread.

I believe it depends on perspective. This isn’t the same as classic “low libido” from depression or hormone deficiency. I would describe it as not missing it, not craving it, no urge at all. For me it is more like a reduced reward drive, not distress-driven loss. Less distracted by urges. More in control. Let me add this, If the perfect scenario happened, would anything wake up? For me it would be, yes. Some might say no.

@livelonger-70 Yes, exactly! I know women on SSRI’s who have lost any interest in sex and didn’t get it back when they stopped (this is being researched now as it is a huge problem nobody mentioned when prescribing them to tens of millions of people.) The GLP suppression feels just the way you describe. I wouldn’t say I don’t desire it, but things are muted. I’ve basically quit drinking and gaming. And I am a long time drinker and gamer.

I read with weekly injections some people feel more “alive” near the end of the week and more flat right after the shot. Good suggestion would be plan
intimacy right before next injection. -
I take my Tirz Saturday night before bed so I can eat on Friday and Saturday. When I started, I was taking it on Thursday night and then I’d have no interest in eating or drinking from Friday through Sunday. Now I can enjoy the weekend some, and get the suppression during the week when I am at work.
The half-life of Tirz is 5 days, so you can definitely optimize your shot around activities that you enjoy, or want to enjoy. I am also on the lowest dose now (2.5mg) because I have been having trouble hitting my macros on higher doses. There is a bit more noise, but it’s manageable. The real challenge is having enough good food around that I don’t go for the garbage.
I am starting to think about when to take various supplements and whether/if there are better times to research different peps.

@ResearchCat I started my Tirz on Monday mornings at a clinic and they recommended Testosterone. For me, the change was huge that I quit looking at food and really started focusing more on my wife. After bloodwork, my trt was around 900 and now continuing with 2 self injections of 35 units each. I have no desire for alcohol, snacking, and just eat healthy dinners. Now that I have lost 20lbs and gained 7 lbs muscle mass, my marriage is amazing, and feel so much better. I did reconstitute a Servo vial that I started on Thursdays .3mg to .5 to now will finish the vial at 1 mg for 3 weeks.
Randy helped me start this as the “Reta getto” as I had such great success with Tirz. After 13 weeks I have 3 weeks left and plan on stopping. I think doing 5 amino 1mq 3 10mg vials helped with muscle and protein powder for lunches and a couple eggs for breakfast.
I am still also on my 1st vial of cjc/ipa before bed which makes deep sleep amazing. Fat seems to be coming off still but staying 2 weeks at 195 lbs.
I have some Reta that I may try but Ill see as I want to do the Ss31 and MotsC protocol to reboot my mitochondria and may add tesamoreline. Doing GLOW and KPV for recovery and my skin and nails seems to be much better.
I do start getting hungry on the weekends but avoided the all you can eat sushi Friday night. Changing habits is what this is about too so bought more protein powder at Costco with some Creatine. I can highly recommend these protocols at 62 working physically hard remodeling houses and still on my honeymoon again. -
I have been using Tirz for two months. The lack of desire for alcohol was immediate and more pronounced for me than it was for food. This has been such a blessing. I actually looked at a bottle of whiskey with disgust. I take it on Saturday mornings and noticed that full effects don’t start until Monday so I still have a single drink on Saturday night and that satisfies me. I have not noticed a change to my libido with Tirz.

from my experience subject hasnt lost ambition or drive. so much as having more focus. not in the adderal kind of way. but like the decision making? ive had a hard time explaining it to other researchers. subject knows what he has to do and nothing more. as for sex drive and other stuff. i mean its all working not like its broken. but its just not important? you didnt take the dogs bark away but it took away the need to bark at it?
