Health and Life Insurance and Doctor's Visits
-
Hello, I wanted to ask everyone how they go about speaking with their doctors about their research protocols.
I am going for a check up and am going to ask for a blood test and want to be transparent.
My hold-up comes from something a friend told me earlier this year. He said that he went in for a new life insurance policy and the provider drug-tested him. They found nicotine in his system from a cigar he had over the weekend and his premium went up.
I wonder if revealing that I have turned myself into a test rat will go over well during a doctor's visit or a potential update to a health or life insurance policy.
Do any of you have any experience with doctors or insurance while researching peptide protocols?
Any comments appreciated -
I would be careful with the doctor too. When you go for life insurance you sign a HIPPA form giving them access to everything. Including your doctors chart notes.

Any comments appreciated@pensar Insurance drug tested him or the employer?? Insurance or provider mandating drug testing sounds far fetched. Employers do often.
One wouldn't want to talk about RUO stuff even with the doctor. Only if one really trusts their doctor and can tell the doctor to keep things off record it might be okay.
But in this AI connected world I would be 10x more cautious about what goes in my EMR and stays there for eternity.... In short mum is the word.
You can go to a direct to patient docs though who don't take insurance and are not part of the big pharma insurance and FDA cartel, and that would relatively safer.
My 2c!

@pensar I definitely would not inform my life insurance company that I'm injecting things that don't pass through regular medical channels. I would tell my doctor. But not how I acquire them. They dont need to know EVERYTHING.

@Mydogdaryl423 my thoughts exactly, I feel like admitting to taking risky gray market supps might raise a flag with my insurance, seeing as I am going to a doctor that works for said insurance company

@pep_researcher I am pretty sure it was his insurance, which honestly made sense that they were making sure he wasnt using drugs as they are taking the risk in covering him

The doctor I choose as a PCP refused to order anything but the simplest bloodwork. I asked for IGF-1 and testosterone and refused no mater what I asked. The first time I went with him I told him bout the retatrutide I was just starting and quickly asked where from I just said that it was from a friend of a friend.

@pensar doubt it. He didn’t believe I was getting Reta. I had asked for IGF-1 blood work because I wanted to try tesamorelin I tried explaining that to him and didn’t know what that was.
I can get better treatment and care going to Mexico. I’ve same day dr consult and medicine for less than what I have to pay as copay in the US.
