People mix up three different questions: Purity - what fraction of the UV-absorbing stuff is the main peak Identity - is that peak the peptide on the label Amount - how many mg of actual peptide are in the vial A used Agilent 1100/1200 + C18 column + 0.1 mg balance will do #1 and a version of #3. It will not do #2. FOr #2 you need a Mass Spec machine. HPLC separates by hydrophobicity and measures peak area at 214/220 nm. Purity is just: main peak area / all peak areas Practical cheap setup for HPLC: complete used 1100/1200 gradient HPLC with UV/DAD, one new C18, HPLC ACN/water/TFA, 0.1 mg balance. Ballpark $8–15k could be less on used lab equipment sites but need to make sure it has all the modules. Not easy to keep these machines working well without knowhow. For identity of what is in the vial you need Mass Spec Best cheap option: ESI single-quad LC-MS Agilent 6120/6130/6140, Shimadzu LCMS-2020, Waters QDa/SQD. Used working ones usually ask $35k–$55k. “Powers on” eBay units at $8k–$20k are often dead. Also really tough to run and maintain - need nitrogen tank at home etc.

Do not use a spacer; it will most certainly break the pen. Been there, done that. Listen to @randy. They get stuck in that position and even if you manage to get the plunger back down, it will never be accurate again.

In addition to the other comments, I imagine both sites buy wholesale from Hospira by the pallet. This is just the newest batch. The bottle I bought a few months ago "expire" in late 2028.

@mrjoshua44 I have a V4 and a V2, and the Ultra is my new favorite. It’s not quite as smooth as the V4, but I like the enclosed pen cap and the smaller size.

Does anyone know why Westend Medical Supply site (which is alias of Bacteriostaticwater.com) has been non functional for the past several days? @commander @stevensanto tagging the veterans of RUO and supplies.

It’s almost certainly contracted out, the same as most beer and other stuff is. The capital costs to do it in house are prohibitive*, and keep in mind that the vast majority of peptide vendors are resellers operating out of a storage facility or mailboxes etc - regardless of how slick their web site is. Assuming you want to sell actual bac water, (insert concerns about maintaining sterility while personally decanting bac water in your spare bedroom).

My guess is that it is a pressure issue. I’d assume a sterile vial to be under vacuum, but that might be wrong. If not, you can always draw a few ml of air out to create a vacuum in case that helps. My only experience is with the Repatha autoinjectors. Whoever designed them chose violence.

@randy You've apparently tried and tested quite a few pens. In your opinion which one out there comes as close to perfection as possible?

@diegoc Agreed. Sometimes the gear-chasing rabbit-holes can bum me out. I haven’t had any issues with the bulk pen-carts from Amazon nor the 50-pack of LocoFiltrs nor the Furwey “sterile” empty vials… but if I grow a 3rd arm, they’ll be the reason why.

They are 70% iso alcohol caps that stay on the tip to keep it sterile, but only last 7 days and cannot be reused. I had purchased 100 vial adapters and the Curio caps to use with my Bac water and Luer Lock syringes but after a couple times, I just found it more of a hassle to do that, and switch out caps every 7 days then just using regular syringes. So now I have them sitting here. If anyone wants my vial adapters and the disinfectant caps for free, I am more than happy to mail them to you if you will use them. Just pay for the shipping.

I used cheap Vendor bac water from Glow Amino's since Hospira is the biggest waste of money imo, I reconstituted Reta/tirz/kpv/Tesa everything came out fine
